Earn STEM Badges at Astar Explorer!

At Astar Explorer, girl scouts from Daisies up to Juniors can earn STEM badges through fun and unique hands-on workshops. Our innovative and engaging workshops are designed to build creative confidence and foster a love of STEM concepts. Each of our workshops include the following:

  • 90 minute hands-on activity
  • Led by trained STEM instructor
  • Meets badge requirements
  • Troops leave with badge in hand

Available Badges

Daisies crack the code by learning how computers work and creating video games and apps that help other people!

Earn these three (3) badges, and you'll understand coding basics, how to design a video game and create an app.

In the Roller Coaster Design Challenge, Daisies learn about engineering and motion by building and testing a roller coaster. Daisies explore how roller coasters work and how to design, build, and test a new product.

Invent the future! Learn what robots do and how you can build and program your own. In this three (3) part series troops will learn:

  • What Robots Do
  • How Robots Move
  • How to Design a Robot

Welcome to the world of cybersecurity! When you’ve earned these three badges, you’ll know how to stay safe online. You’ll also have fun using your investigative skills to uncover problems and find solutions.

Brownies expand their knowledge as they explore what makes computers work and create video games and apps that help other people.

Earn these three (3) badges, and you'll understand coding basics, how to design a video game and create an app.

Every day, a robotics engineer invents another robot that can do something new - like perform surgery, explore Pluto, and yes, even heard cattle. What will they do next? If you can't wait to find out then you might want to become a robotics engineer someday so you can invent what our future looks like.

When you've earned these three badges, you'll know how to build a robot, program a robot and share what you've built with others.

Welcome to the world of cybersecurity! We use computers every day to send emails, watch videos, and shop online. Computers are also a part of our lives in many other ways that aren’t as easy to see. Computers power up skyscrapers and streetlights, keep air conditioners and security systems humming, run medical devices in hospitals, control cars and planes, and much more.
Cybersecurity is the way we protect all those computers—and ourselves—from crime.

Earn these three badges, you’ll know the basics of cybersecurity, what privacy means, and how to protect yourself when you’re on a computer.

Juniors get with the program! They’ll create computer programs, video games and apps that solve problems and generate positive change.

Earn these three (3) badges, and you'll understand coding basics, how to design a video game and create an app.

Robots are simple machines programmed to run automatically. Programmers are engineers that create step-by-step instructions, or algorithms, that tell robots how to understand and respond to their environment.

After you earn these three badges, you'll know how to program a robot, how to design and build a robot and share with others what you've created.

Welcome to the world of cybersecurity! When you’ve earned these three badges, you’ll know how to stay safe and keep information private when you’re online. You’ll also learn investigative skills that will help you spot problems and vulnerabilities in the cyber world. Cybersecurity keeps the world safe. Every company that uses computers depends on people and software to protect them and the information they contain. Do you love to solve puzzles and figure out mysteries and break codes? Then you’ll love learning about cybersecurity—and how you can use your skills to keep people safe.
